• Vital for Specialised Sonar: This sensor is highly recommended or standard for unlocking maximum precision when using MEGA 360 Imaging or forward-facing sonar systems, as it lets you accurately match your sonar beam directly to your chart orientation.

Crucial Installation Rules

• Avoid Magnetic Interference: Because the unit contains an active electronic compass, it must be mounted at least 3 feet (1 metre) away from all ferrous metals, high-current wiring, electric motors, and trolling motor housings.
• The "Cheap Compass" Trick: To test a potential mounting spot before drilling holes, place a standard handheld magnetic compass on the desired surface. If the compass needle deflects or spins when you power up your boat electronics/trolling motor, that spot has magnetic interference and will cause inaccurate readings on your Humminbird screen.
