Humminbird AS GPS HS External GPS Receiver with Heading Sensor - 101088
$330.00 $939.00
The Humminbird AS GPS HS is an external, high-precision GPS receiver with a built-in magnetic heading sensor (electronic compass) designed to upgrade your boat's mapping and chartplotting system.
Key Performance Benefits
- Stops Map Spinning: Standard internal GPS units only calculate your direction using your physical movement. When you slow down under 2 mph (3.2 km/h) or sit perfectly still, internal maps will spin or become disoriented. The internal compass inside the AS GPS HS ensures your chart remains locked onto your actual boat orientation even when dead in the water.
- Ultra-Precise Waypoints: It provides fast satellite fixes accurate to within 2.5 metres. By installing the puck directly above your transducer, you eliminate the physical distance gap between where your fish finder sees a fish and where your internal GPS antenna is sitting (usually at the console), preventing "donut" or offset waypoints.
- Vital for Specialised Sonar: This sensor is highly recommended or standard for unlocking maximum precision when using MEGA 360 Imaging or forward-facing sonar systems, as it lets you accurately match your sonar beam directly to your chart orientation.

Crucial Installation Rules
- Avoid Magnetic Interference: Because the unit contains an active electronic compass, it must be mounted at least 3 feet (1 metre) away from all ferrous metals, high-current wiring, electric motors, and trolling motor housings.
- The "Cheap Compass" Trick: To test a potential mounting spot before drilling holes, place a standard handheld magnetic compass on the desired surface. If the compass needle deflects or spins when you power up your boat electronics/trolling motor, that spot has magnetic interference and will cause inaccurate readings on your Humminbird screen.
System Compatibility
- Direct Plug-and-Play: Compatible with all HELIX 8, 9, 10, and 12 series, alongside HELIX 7 G2N, G3N, and G4N networking models
- Adapter Required: All SOLIX and ONIX series require an additional AS GPS NMEA adapter cable. High-end APEX models require the AS GPS adapter.
- Network Restrictions: This device is explicitly not compatible with the older Humminbird InterLink systems.
