The 09282-08005 is a genuine Suzuki Marine OEM oil seal for the shift rod guide housing in the lower unit gearcase. It retains gearcase fluid and prevents water ingress around the gear shift rod mechanism, which passes through the gearcase housing between the mid-section and lower unit. A failed shift rod seal typically presents as gearcase oil contaminated with water, or fluid weeping from the mid-section area around the shift rod.
